About our school

Tlamatlama Primary School started in 1971. It is situated in Tlamatlama Section between the two main streets, RTJ Namane Drive (Northwards from school) and Andrew Maphetho Drive (Southwards from the school). The school is situated in the South of Winnie Mandela informal settlement.

The two high schools bordering the school are Zitikeni Secondary, 600meters southwards from the school and Thuto-Ke-Matla 300 meters westwards from the school.

The majority of our learners come from a poor socio-economic background. Many parents are unemployed and survive mainly on child grants. There are more than 220 learners who are beneficiaries of the school nutrition programme and about 74 learners who are on the (OVC) Orphans and Vulnerable Children program. In this program the school provides food and extra classes to these learners during holidays. Many learners depend on child support and foster grant.

The school has a total attendance of 1300 learners. It has a total number of 31 classes (24 brick and mortar and 7 corrugated iron classes).
