40 learners from SpaceToSay schools were treated to a brand new pair of school shoes on 25 February 2011. These learners come from disadvantaged backgrounds and as a result the shoes they wear to school every day are in very poor condition. SpaceToSay Foundation, FirstRand Volunteers and Bobs for Good Foundation organised an event to make a difference.

Budget provided four mini-busses to transport the learners and staff from Moriting Primary School in Tembisa to Rand Merchant Place in Sandton where the event was held, and back again.
The learners were welcomed at FirstRand offices by volunteers and clowns with pop-corn. They got to meet former Springbok rugby captain Bob Skinstad, CEO of FirstRand Limited, Sizwe Nxasana and SpaceToSay founder, Johan Bester. Then the real fun began as the learners cast off their old shoes and fitted new socks and shoes on. |
